Sleeping Beauty

The classic tale of Sleeping Beauty has captivated young readers for decades. After being cursed by an evil fairy, Princess Aurora is whisked away as an infant, renamed Briar Rose, and raised by three good fairies who have vowed to protect her. But years later, the evil fairy, Maleficent, is able to lure Aurora to a spinning wheel, where she pricks her finger and falls into a deep sleep, fulfilling her curse. Only true love’s kiss, delivered by the dashing Prince Phillip, can wake Aurora and restore their kingdom.

Tie-in Activity: Inspired by Princess Aurora’s friendships with her woodland companions, encourage your child to choose his own animal friends from your own backyard. Together, create hypothetical personalities, voices, and names for your favorite squirrels, robins, or hummingbirds.
